So you’ve decided to have a maternity boudoir shoot. Congratulations! This is such a special and unique time in your life. You never regret having more photos of the kiddos, even when they’re not quite here yet! The most important question surfaces – what do you possibly wear for a maternity boudoir shoot?
We talked about why it is so important to have a maternity boudoir shoot a few weeks back, so I won’t go over why I think it’s such a great idea again, except to say that I think you’re definitely making a great choice! Here are my top tips on what to wear to your maternity boudoir photo shoot.
First and foremost, a robe is your best friend! A flowy robe will drape your fabulous curves and provide a pop of color or lace for a dramatic visual effect. They are also awesome to pose with – you can make them as demure or as dramatic as you’d like, and capturing the flow of the fabric is sooo fun from a photography point of view.

They do exist! This is the perfect opportunity to invest in some bras that are both beautiful for pictures, and functional for after the baby arrives. Just because you’re becoming a mom, doesn’t mean you’re not a person who deserves gorgeous things! For an extra dose of decadence, go for a matching set with some comfy boy shorts.
If there was ever a time to rock the over-sized shirt, it is now! It adds an extra dimension to your photos to wear a button down or flannel from baby’s dad. It’s a great way to incorporate him into the photos without him actually being there. Even if dad has no photo-ready shirts, you can grab one from Target all for yourself!

"Anne is an incredibly talented photographer, and her passion for capturing beautiful memories really shines through during her boudoir sessions. She really takes that time to make sure you're comfortable, and I honestly felt so glamorous and confident. This photo shoot was such an empowering thing to do! (and honestly...it was really fun to get all dolled up and pretend to be a supermodel for the day!) I highly recommend Anne and Bmore Boudoir."

"Working with Anne and Ash was absolutely amazing! They are very knowledgeable and gave wonderful advice. Even though Anne was a lot of fun and very laid back, she ensured she exuded professionalism always. I was so nervous to do a boudoir shoot and was lacking some serious confidence. They had a special way that made me feel not only comfortable, but confident and sexy! The pictures were beautiful and very tasteful. I cannot wait to work with Anne again!"
"Working with you was incredible!! You were so laid back, made me feel comfortable and beautiful in my skin. I didn't feel like I needed to cover up or hide at all. Your direction and energy was exactly what I needed to have a successful shoot. I chose YOU to do the session because I felt like you would put me at ease and we'd just have FUN during the shoot, and I was right ;) Having finished and leaving that day I felt empowered and absolutely gorgeous, like I could take on anything life threw at me haha! I was super excited to get the photos back and share them with my hunny, and he LOVED them! No complaints there <3"
